Fourth International Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition 2016: Sustainable Heritage: Global Vision Local Experiences. 8-10 February 2016, Dubai, U.A.E

One of the most common definitions of sustainability cited by professionals stressed on the environmental concerns to the interrelationship between people, resources, environment and development. This definition is impeded in Venice charter and finds its resonance among conservation practitioners to recognize cultural heritage as an irreplaceable resource and it is our common responsibility to save it for future generations.
Dubai Municipality is set to organize its 4th International Architectural Conservation Conference & Exhibition under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum,
Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, Chairman of Dubai Municipality. The main aim of the conference is to exchange information, experiences and knowledge among researchers, professionals, local and international organizations dealing with sustainability and heritage conservation.

The conference will be held in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition centre between 8-10 February 2016.The conferences will be peer reviewed by international scientific committee. Abstracts should be maximum 400 words and sent heritage.dubai@dm.gov.ae and could be under the following main themes:

Theme 1: Policies, strategies and guidelines for sustainable heritage
1-Legislation, guidelines, code of ethics and measures for sustainable heritage.
2-International charters and evolving concept in sustainability of cultural heritage.
3-The Historic Urban Landscape initiative and the integrated approach to historic areas.
4-Safeguarding the intangible aspects of heritage.
5-Impact studies and sustainable heritage.

Theme 2: Approaches to sustainable heritage
1-Research and most recent studies on sustainable heritage environments.
2-Urban issues in conserving historic districts.
3-Evolving concepts of authenticity and integrity as applied to World Heritage Sites.
4-Development and management of historic areas.
5-Public-private collaborations and partnerships.

Theme 3: Cultural tourism and sustainability
1-Interpretation, presentation and promotion of material culture.
2-Sustainability of heritage museums.
3-Marketing and promotion of Cultural heritage.
4-Cultural tourism and economic aspects of heritage sustainability.
5-Balance between sustainable development, tourism requirement and heritage conservation.
6-Impact of tourism on heritage conservation.

Theme 4: Sustainability and smart solutions for heritage conservation
1-Smart approaches to heritage conservation.
2-Training, education and capacity building.
3-Most recent techniques of smart solutions for heritage conservation.
4-Sustainable practices in social media outlets of heritage sites.
